Lost in Space returning?

Variety scoops that the classic sci-fi series Lost in Space may be returning to TV. The trade says that Synthesis Entertainment, founded by Kevin Burns and Jon Jashni, will partner with filmmaker John Woo and screenwriter Doug Petrie (Buffy, Angel) on the new series which is currently being shopped around to networks.

This could be so cool. Or it could so suck. But I gotta be there.

  1. The movie version (esp. with at least some of the deleted scenes) wasn’t that bad. Bad, but not that bad. And certainly not as bad as some of the TV episodes grew to be.

  2. After the second or third time Dr. Smith endangered Mrs. Robinson’s children she would have beaten him silly with the nearest blunt object and then spaced the stupid bastard.

Even when I was 10 years old the thing was too lame for words.

Not that the new version will necessarily suck, but gah.

  3. An interesting side story about LiS was the way that the show evolved to be about Adventures of Dr. Smith, a far cry from the intial vision; indeed, originally Smith (who sabotaged the mission in the first place) was supposed to escape.
