A much clearer version of the most recent RotK trailer is up at Apple’s site. Ooooooooooooh …
1. No shots of Gimli. Damn.
2. Who’s doing the St. Crispin’s Day speech? Some say Aragorn, but it just doesn’t sound right. Eomer?
3. The music seemed a bit off, a bit simple. Hmmm.
4. Despite earlier speculation, it looks like Arwen is not around just to carry Anduril to Aragorn. Interesting.
5. The general look and feel is glorious.
There *is* one shot of Gimli. In one scene, with Gandalf on the left, Aragorn on the right, Éomer and Legolas in the back, with Éomer coming forward and talking — Gimli is in a stone chair behind Gandalf.
I know, I was disappointed he wasn’t in it either. So I went looking.
Oh, and you can download it for good viewing from lordoftherings.net
When you say the “St. Crispin’s Day” speech (“we few, we happy few, we band of buggered…” oops, that’s the Buffy version!), do you mean the “I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me…A day may come when the courage of men fails…” speech?
That’s Aragorn. At the end of that speech, it shows him speaking it on horseback.
Yup on Gimli.
And according to the scene-by-scene there, it is, in fact, Aragorn giving the speech. Which makes fine dramatic sense, but it sill doesn’t sound like him.
The clip shows Aragorn saying — maybe, ’cause the sync seems off — just the last few words. The oddness of the sound made me doubt, but I’ll trust the transcript attribution.
Looks good! I have a friend who hated JRRT, but who is salivating at this third film. He’s a very big Jackson fan.
The music might be simple because it isn’t the final version, heck, it could even be from another movie (often happens in a trailer). Ditto the sound on the speech–probably to be cleaned up in the final production rush.
I’m looking forward to seeing if the extended versions of Fellowship and Towers will be playing in the area. From what I’ve heard, each will be out a few weeks before “Return” hits the big screens.
That’ll be a ton of fun!
Viggo’s voice just sounds weird at times. Like in the Council of Elrond scene, it sounds nasal :-S I knew it was him from taht start ’cause I remembered that, hehe. Doesn’t sound very manly at all, but he can’t be perfect I guess 😉
