Got my annual review. Well, actually, haven’t gotten the review, but got the raise notice. A month late, to be sure, but my New New Boss had to wait on the Old New Boss for input.

On the other hand, it was above the rather draconian “standard” cap we have on us this year, so I’ve got no complaints.

  1. Congratulation on the above sub-par raise. It is a pure shame when companies establish those stupid rules. I am a firm believer that they should pay people what they are worth. If they earn that raise they should get that raise. Of coarse then there are people like my hubby that would put companies out of business if they were paid what they were worth. Or is that just my natural bias coming out. Gotta love it. Hopefully they made your raise retroactive so it doesn’t matter how late it was.

  2. While I think everyone should get what they deserve (or better), I also understand budgetary constraints. My company sometimes comes across as parsimonious, but we’re also in a low-margin industry in tough times, and the Powers That Be aren’t sitting around in fabulous corporate retreats in Cancun thinking this stuff up while they sip their $15 daiquiris.
