Am I the only person in the world who puts their XP taskbar on the left side of my screen?
I like that it gives me longer minimized tabs, so I can see what something is. I like having longer document windows, rather than wider ones. I just find it handy.
And XP certainly supports it. You can lock the taskbar on any side of the screen, not just the bottom.
Pretty much every application is sensitive to taskbar placement — at the bottom. Open up an appliction, and if the taskbar is too fat on the bottom, the ap will tend to shrink up from it so that it meets up.
But not on the left. I don’t know how many applications I run that open up a window on the left border of the desktop — regardless of the placement of the taskbar. Which then means dragging the window to the right so I can see that the hell it’s all about.
Okay, that’s enough idiosyncratic bitching for the nonce.
Ooh! Yeah, I’ve kept my taskbar on the left (with autohide, so I don’t have the window placement issue) ever since Win95 came out.
I’ve tried switching, and I just can’t deal.
Glad I’m not the only one.
Not so much into the Autohide. I like seeing where I’m aiming at with my mouse before I get over there.
I have my Win2000 menu on the left side as well.
Yep…Auto hide as well.
You can move it? *digs out laptop, which I conveniently brought to work* Mine is going on the right if so, baby!
Just click-and-drag it to the side you want. It’s configuriffic!
Bottom autohider since 95 came out, I think.
You’re just so conventional, Doyce.
Well, as you’re keeping track…
Left, with auto hide.
