I think Steve Martin is a very clever and amusing man.
That being said, wild dogs couldn’t drag me to see his new flick, Cheaper by the Dozen. I have a long-standing love for the Gilbreth saga (starting with the stage adaptation of it we did when I was in junior high — I played in the orchestra), and seeing the quirky tale gutted and remolded into a screwball comedy (particularly of the “Isn’t Steve a wonderfully doltish parent to this Home Alone-esque brood?” variety) is not something I need to pay to see.
I sacrificed and saw it for you. It was worth every penny.
Oh, yeah, I used a free pass, so…
Didn’t he already do this in Parenthood, Father of the Bride, and Father of the Bride II?
Yes. It’s a bit of a creative rut he’s in, movie-wise at least.
Have we forgotten Bringing Down the House? Probably, though I enjoyed that for Eugene Levy.
