So far, so good … sort of … with drought stuff here in Colorado.
Denver Water expects its drought-stricken reservoirs to reach 92 percent of capacity this summer if spring weather provides normal amounts of snow and rain.
[…] Statewide snowpacks – critical indicators of new water supplies – are close to average. The South Platte River Basin, on which Denver relies heavily, is registering about 70 percent of average.
Still, March and April are traditionally heavy snow months in regions that are critical to Denver’s water supply.
We’re not out the woods yet by any means (the long-term water issues notwithstanding). Denver Water’s asked folks not to water their lawns in March and April (a difficult trick for us, since our zones don’t match our lawns vs. gardens, at least not any more).
Still, with luck, we won’t see the yard start off with a huge deficit out the gate.
