Here’s an amazingly difficult (well, it was for me) quiz on Famous Swords From History, Myth, and Literature.
In drafting this quiz I drew upon history, medieval and Renaissance literature, Icelandic saga, myth (Arthurian, Irish, Welsh, Germanic, Japanese) and 20th-century fiction. To get all 25 questions right, you’ll have to do the same. Hope you’re up for it!
He’s not kidding. I thought I was up on my sword stuff, but only four of these rang a bell …

*cough* Twelve right.
Yes, well, Stacy, if there were anyone I’d be worried about around me wielding sharp objects …
I got 22, near as I remember, but I’d run into some of the answers shortly before finding the quiz, and I made some good guesses.
There sure are a lot of the things out there in the literature.
I actually got twelve as well, but I guessed at most of them. I’ve got a lot of epic catching up to do (and I must hunt up and re-read a copy of Watership Down. I am afraid that I let Richard Adams’ subsequent novels turn me off his work — except for Shardik, which I also plan to find and reread.
13/25, but I guessed a bunch by process of elimination.
Good quiz!
I got 11/25. Some of the ones I “knew”, I got wrong. Some of the ones I guess, I got right 🙂
Great quiz, thanks!
