This should be enough to snap the trees into fall plumage:
… Sharply colder temperatures along with snow in the high country expected Tuesday and Wednesday…
The first cold storm system of the season is expected to move across the area the next couple of days. Late Monday night… a cold front will move through the area which will usher much colder air into the area. By daybreak Tuesday… widespread showers will develop in the foothills and Front Range. At higher elevations … Snow is expected by Tuesday morning. The snow level will fall throughout the day Tuesday and may drop low enough to produce some light snow accumulations on grassy areas along the Palmer Divide.
The rain may briefly mix with snow in areas of the Front Range immediately adjacent to the foothills by Tuesday evening.
Katherine is eager to have snow arrive.
I am NOT eager to have snow arrive. Nor am I eager for rainy wet weather. Bicycling is much more pleasant without rain or snow. Can I have some more pleasant late-summer weather please?
On the other hand, early and wet winter means no drought next year …
Hmmm…Considering that the Maples at the office and at home started turning 4 weeks ago, and that the Aspen’s in Leadville were half gold two weeks ago, autumn has been here for awhile.
Our maples have been turning, too, but the cottonwoods here have been still pretty solid green. I expect that to change very quickly after today.
Here in SoCal we are having 90 degree weather and Santa Ana (or Santanna – depends on where you are from) winds – 45mph or so.
True, Ginger, but you must admit that the last three or four days have felt much more autumnal than the past five months! Tolerable, even.
