I’d have preferred it to have Firewire instead of USB 2.0, or even as well as. Considering it’s Sony and they brand that under their own name of i.LINK, I’m surprised it’s not there.
Since, to me, the primary point is to hook it directly to my VCR, the computer connectivity is secondary. But I see your point.
