Aloha Nokia 8265 and TDMA. Welcome, Nokia 3120 and GSM.
Actually, it turns out that my trip only slightly accelerated my getting a new phone, since AT&T is phasing out support of TDMA, which means that everyone in the company with a TDMA phone will have to convert to GSM Real Soon Now. (Not sure what that means to Margie’s cell phone, though.)
Anyway, it’s a nice little phone, and I have to start plowing through all the menus and settings on it. Alas, I need to get a special Nokia-compatible headset for it (or three), since it doesn’t use the standard little jack type that, oh, everyone else in the cosmos does (including my old 8265, dagnabbit). Mercifully, the power brick is the same, but the case that came with it, though compatible with the swivel clip that the old case used, doesn’t have a front plastic shield, meaning the phone will quickly get all dinged up. That’s NFG. So, off to Best Buy (followed by the Internet) I go …
