  1. Great pictures, gets me excited for our own trip in a few weeks. One question, can you watch the fireworks from the Contemporary if you’re not staying there but at another Disney property?

  2. Heh. Yes. If you’re staying at a Disney property, you’ll get a little dashboard pass for your car.

Two things happened when we tried this at the Contemporary.

    1. The night of the fireworks, we pulled up to the guard shed in front of the parking lot, the guard asked nicely why we were visiting, we indicated dinner reservations, he waved us through. We parked right under the monorail track, a few short steps from the hotel.
    2. Heartened by the above, we decided to visit Magic Kingdom that way — park in the lot, hop the resort monorail to MK (or even walk, if need be). In daylight hours, though, and using the same excuse, the guard waved us into the 3-hour lot. We instead drove back to the Transportation Center parking lot …

So, short answer is definitely yes. Especially (and more virtuously) if you make reservations for dinner at one of the restaurants there (the Steakhouse was quite good).

As of about 30 minutes before the show, the balcony was deserted, save for a dozen or so deck chairs. By the time the show was ready to start, though, the chairs were pretty full up, though there were still good sight lines for standing (and it’s not so long a show as to make it impractical).
