I’m tweaking things slightly with my TypeKey setup to require that folks pass on their e-mail addy to me via TypeKey. This address will not show up in the comments, and won’t even show up in your TypeKey profile unless you specify it should. But it will show up in the e-mail notifications I get about comments, and it will let me easily see in my e-mail who’s sent comments.

So, no privacy concerns unless you’re concerned about my knowing your e-mail address — in which case, why the heck are you commenting here?

  1. BTW, Something about the typekey login prevents Camino from filling in the username and password for me. Did you say it worked with Firefox? I wonder what the difference is, since I thought Camino and Firefox shared code.

  2. I don’t get the joke. (sorry!) I’m using Safari 1.3 (latest available) under OS X 10.3.9 (latest patch level except for Tiger, 10.4, to which I won’t switch until I’ve heard a bit more about how well it works in the real world). And in any case, Safari worked, but Camino didn’t.

  3. Well, at one point the FF password manager was able to access the TypeKey page (because I’ve got my TypeKey login in my password manager), but now it’s not coming up. Odd.

  4. oops. My mistake, I forgot about the formatting problem, I was so focussed on the password issue.

I just upgraded to Camino 0.8.4 from 0.8.3, and it still doesn’t fill in the username and password for me (though it knows that they exist, since it notices when I type something different than it has recorded for the typekey site).

On another note, are typekey usernames and passwords case-sensitive?

  5. Suddenly, Camino is now filling in the typekey name and password fields for me. The only thing I can think of is that I quit the program and restarted it.

  6. That’s good.

On the other hand, FF and Roboform have stopped noticing TypeKey. Maybe I ought to try loading something different in. I’ll try that next time.
