Yes, it’s big and bulky, but it should keep me through at least some if the travel I have over the next week.

UPDATE: (This part was in the original post, but for some reason wasn’t included.)
Haven’t mentioned the travel all that much. Today is a day trip to California for a Command Performance and Introduction to a Very Important Executive Who Will Be My Bestest Friend. Oh, boy.
And sigh, as I discovered this morning that one of my two suits has moth holes in it. So, another errand for Friday whilst we get the tires on the Subaru replaced (wear and a nail driving that particular activity). (UPDATE: Hey, so does the suit coat I brought with me. Swell.)
So, up at 3:30a for my 6:00a flight, then an 8:00p flight out to get to DIA about 11:30p. Joy. Though I’d rather make it a late night and be home than stay over.
Then Saturday afternoon I head off Across the Pond for an unprecedented meeting of all IT managers of my level. Meetings run Monday-Tuesday in Cambridge, and I get back to DIA around 6:00p on Wednesday.
I need to see if I can get a Frequent Flier upgrade on the flight. Defintely worth it for the trans-Atlantic flight.
More as I think of it. Kind of cool to blog at 36,000 feet …
What?!?
You finally got book five done? W00t!
Should have six done tonight.
Not quite the doorstop as the previous book! It’s on the TBR pile, but I’ve been on a A.C. Clarke kick of late.
Huh. Guess I never posted that I’d finished 5. Yup, right after I finished 4.
Evidently some folks in the department have expressed concern over the Cambridge meeting, given today’s activities. The CIO had a big phonecon on the subject (I didn’t hear about it as I dashed from one meeting to another, but I’ll be seeing him later today) wherein he basically said, “The company has not issued a warning or prohibition on traveling to the UK, we’re going to see if we can arrange some private transportation from LHR to Cambridge, and if you or your family really don’t want you to go, then you can bow out without anyone thinking the less of you.”
As for me — I figure I was in greater danger driving from LAX to Pasadena this morning during rush hour. My only concern is that something would happen that would tie up transportation and I’d be significantly inconvenienced, not any great fear for my life. I don’t think of that as bravery, just a realistic risk assessment.
The weather forecast for Cambridge.
Hmmm. Probably will want a light jacket and my brolly.
By the time you get there, they’ll have official “Not Afraid” Tube shirts available for purchase.
I’ll be sure and pick one up, then.
Hopefully they will be of stouter (and less shrinkable) stuff than my beloved “Mind the Gap” tube shirt.
I just finished that book, as well.
Work’s been a mess recently, and I devoured the book in about six straight hours of reading. It was a very, very nice escape.
