I’m doing fine on material, but I’m running out of things to say “above the fold” like this.
I do thank those of you who’ve piped up to comment — it really does help. Well, it takes time away from the blogging, but it makes it clear I’m not sitting here by myself. Yet, at least.
So — back to the “current reading” list …
- Dr. Blink, Superhero Shrink #2 (Dork Storm): I have no idea how long John Kovalic can keep up the humorous psychoanalysis of super-hero types, but it’s going to be fun to watch. Jimmy Hogan was the 8th Wonder Boy — or was he the 9th? — and how he finds his life on the tail end of the convention circuit to be the last straw in a disappointing life. Can Dr. Blink help him — especially when the good doctor himself is faced with a crisis in the form of a Dr. Phil-like character doing “pop” metahuman psychology? Fun.
- Hellblazer #209-210 (Vertigo): Faced with the vengeance of his demon children from a Very Bad Bargain he made, Constantine makes a worse deal. Things seem particularly grim, even for Constantine. Manco’s art seems overly murky and difficult to follow, and Carey seems to be making this book more complicated than Lucifer. Beginning to think of dropping it.
- Hunter-Killer #3 (Top Cow): Waid’s tale of metahuman hunters and terrorists is decent enough, but Mark Silvestri’s art feels so much like classic Image, I find myself shrinking back in dismay. A pity, because there’s some good stuff there waiting to gel — thickening plots and conspiracies and other fun bits. If only the pretty people didn’t look so pretty …
- Incredble Hulk: Destruction #1 (of 4) (Marvel): The government’s thinking of turning the Abomination into a black-ops asset. Unfortunately, the only folks who can speak to how really awful an idea that is are, themselves, discredited on the subject: General Ross and Doc Sampson. Not sure why this is running as a separate mini-series, but so far it’s — okay.
- Invincible #22-23 (Image): The Viltrumites beat the snot out of Allen the Alien, trying to find out more about Invincible and his planet. Meanwhile, Invincible gets the snot beat out of him by those aliens who were helping that other guy and his cross-dimensional doubles do something nefarious. I’ve lost track a bit, to be honest And things on the home front remain rocky, too. This book has a bit of a “holding pattern until things develop into something really nasty feel” to it. But fun, nonetheless, despite al;l the snot-beating.

How you holding up, buddy? Well, I hope. We’re having a great time! I hope it’s the same for you.
KISS KISS!
You’re doing great dear. Don’t mind me dying over on the test server. 🙂
Have you thought about a best of the best post after all these reviews? Best Art, Best Writing, Best New Reader, and Best Non-Comic Reader?
Keep up the good work.
That didn’t even make sense. Hello hour 16. I meant “I hope you’re doing well!” Hang in there! You can do it!
Rey: Actually, it made sense. But, anyway, thanks. Doing okay, hanging in there, etc.
Margie: Mmmm. Kiss. And I appreciate your doing test server stuff, rather than increasing your levels on Live.
A “best of the best” would be interesting — but also difficult, given the number available. Let me ponder that.
Just saw Amorpha on Champion! Claims to be badge-hunting, though, so Thorne’s male ego shouldn’t suffer when he teams with her again. Speaking of teaming, Avo had his first respec. I predict you’ll be…impressed, when next you team with him.
Yes, she confessed that’s what she was doing. What a gal!
