Sipping and scenery at Grand River Vineyards.

UPDATE: On Saturday, post-Convention, we hit a few of the various wineries in Palisades, just east of Grand Junction. Conclusion: Decent blushes and whites, splendid Merlots, mediocre Cabs, lots of fruit wines, some nice dessert wines.

  1. Coolness.

Several wineries in the area worth visiting. It’s all fairly low-key — few if any tasting fees or limits. Overall the wine is pretty good. Nothing that was as good as the best of Napa or anything, but, in its own categories, quite drinkable.

We brought home a case and a half or so.

There’s another cluster of wineries further south that we want to hit up some time. And we hardly exhausted the available locations this time out, either.

When I get my thoughts together, and a map, I’ll work up some recommendations.
