Ray: What that?
De: Ponies.
Ray: Poniiiiiiiiieees??? Wook mamma, ponies! She present ponies! [Big sigh.]
It’s like a glimpse into the future!
Oops. Sorry about that, De.
Actually, MLPs are pretty fun and innocuous as kidling toys go. Less cloying than Care Bears, less surreal than Hello Kitty, less fruit-flavored than Strawberry Shortcake. Though they come with a zillion accessories, they also are fun to play with (I observe) just on their own, and they teach good grooming habits.
That said, I wish she played with her Justice League action figures more … 🙂
Great picture! I was worried that the time had passed to get to see that kind of joy coming from my nine-year-old daughter, but after watching her bounce around in glee last night in anticipation of Santa coming, I am now much less worried!
What a happy picture!
Completely (almost) unrelated side question: I was thinking of setting up airblogging for my MT, but it seems the guy developing it stopped back in January. Is there a more modern alternative that would be better? I heard intimations that 6A does this sort of thing now, but haven’t had time to check it out.
Oh, don’t be silly 🙂 It’s right before Christmas, and she’s trying to persuade me to either a) reveal that I’ve already acquired said thing or b) talk me into getting it.
But I am the momma of secretness, I am the momma of cleverness, and she’s not going to have her way with me! Na na na na…wait…there’s a couple of days left…no, I remember now. I was resisting….
Ian, re airblogging — I wish to heaven there were a more reliable tool out there of this sort (just go to my “blogging” category to read of my research into the subject), but I’ve yet to find it for MT.
6A does have some automatic stuff you can do with Typepad, and there are other tools (such as Splashblog) that let you send photos to photoblog hosted on their site. Similarly, some folks post stuff to Flickr, then have an automatic Flickr feed to their blog.
My bottom line is that I want the photo on my own domain, along with my blog, because I don’t trust anything else. Both Typepad and Flickr have had reliability problems, and, ultimately, if they went titsup, I’d be SOL as far as those photo went. Which is not an acceptible answer to me.
Too bad the girl simply refuses to show any emotion. Don’t give up hope!
Yes, we will need everyone’s hope to get her to come out of her shell, to stop being the shy, quiet, reserved, near-autistic child we all know her to be, if only she’d stop trying to fool us with all that sham outgoing personality … 😉
So De, we never heard about if Rae got her Ponies, and if she enjoyed them?
Well, dunno about Ray, but that was the extent of the MLP action around here.
On the other hand, Katherine got four Barbies, as well as a slew of Barbie-related computer-animated features.
News Flash:
Ray didn’t get any ponies for Christmas. (She got a computer, desk, new games, three barbies including an inadvertand set of twins, some genuine grandma-direct homemade barbie clothes, dress up clothes, jeez I forget what else…)
I don’t think she missed ’em.
