First significant bit of snow we’ve received to date this year (hopefully not the last).
A good day to be at home (esp. since Margie needs to go in for meetings, so she can take the Subaru). Not enough snow to delay school openings or anything like that.
March thru May are the times of the greatest amounts of snow here, so hopefully we start picking up some in the next few months.
Also, it would be good since everyone forgot how to drive in the snow and was driving 25 MPH into work this morning…very annoying.
Yes, folks are often surprised by how late snow comes here.
When I was apartment-hunting here in December, there was a tiny bit of snow on the ground. My friend told me not to expect any more snow until February, if then. Indeed, the only snow we’ve seen since leaving California was while driving on Mt. Shasta. That was the first time my roomie had seen snow fall! She freaked out a bit when she learned I’d never driven through snow before. Wotta wimp.
Here in Fort Collins, everyone was driving 25mph with good reason. There were cars in ditches everywhere. The ground was so warm yesterday that it melted the first bit of snow that fell and when the tmperature dropped, that melted snow turned to ice and more snow fell on top of it. It was so slick that it was hard to walk to the car this morning. I don’t know what conditions were like farther south, but the Denver radio station I sometimes listen to reported more than 90 accidents on the road by 8am this morning. I’d rather annoy or be annoyed than be in a crash.
And I’d rather stay home. 🙂
Though that hasn’t kept me from working …
