RIP Darrin McGavin. A prolific TV actor, I’ll remember him most fondly as proto-X-Files tabloid reporter Karl Kolchak, in Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
And, coincidentally (I assume), RIP Don Knotts, too. Never actually much cared for his work, but he sure did a lot of it.
I had read about Don Knotts, but didn’t know about McGavin until I read your post.
When I logged in to CoH today, the first thing I did was announce that Don Knotts had died. I was met with a chorus of “Nooooooo!”
My roommate, being 19, had never heard of either of them.
Think I’ll watch some episodes of Kolchak: The Night Stalker tomorrow.
Oh, and Dave, if you get a chance to see any episodes of The Steve Allen Show, watch them. I think you’ll like Don Knotts’s work in them better than you might some of his later stuff.
