Looks like, once again, we’re getting one of those monster, unexpected, “Hey, wasn’t it just warm and sunny a few days ago?” city-paralyzing snow storms.
Well, “we” is misleading, since I’m in SoCal, which is a comfy 50-odd degrees.
And because the storm looks to be moving relatively quickly, I’m expecting that it should have passed, and runways and highways plowed, by the time I get home tomorrow night.
Knock on wood.
I’ve been traveling a lot lately, myself. Last week, I was in Reston VA, and it was 85 degrees on Monday.By Friday, we were in the forties again, but it was really bizarre for mid-March.
Chicago next week…
Conditions in Denver are reportedly not as bad as they were forecast to be. The Denver radio station I sometimes listen to in the morning reported that there was only a couple of inches of snow in Denver, and while there are a number of accidents on the roads, they suggested that conditions could have been much worse. Personally, I can observe that here in Fort Collins it was not as bad as it was forecast to be. I only got a couple of inches of snow, while the forecast called for 6-8 inches.
However, weather conditions seem unlikely to improve significantly by the time you return, and they’re forecasting continued light snow showers, so it may still be a little tough for you to get home from the airport if you’re returning to Denver tonight.
Yeah, that’s the plan. Alas, it will almost certainly be around midnight. Joy. And critical things first thing in the morning, so can’t “sleep in.” May work from home, though. 🙂
It was fun coming back to snow today. 🙂
There was snow on the runway when I got home tonight, and it was kind of interesting watching the snow removal operations. Lots of planes (including my own) shuffling gates.
The drive home on 225 wasn’t too bad, even the Evil Flyover of Death, but it was still enough of a white-knuckler in places that I was glad (more glad than usual) to be home. And glad it was 9:15p rather than 3a.
