I get comics for Katherine pretty regularly — two or three titles a month. She enjoys looking at the pictures and reading them (after a fashion), and there are usually several in her bed. So, as part of her bed time, I asked her about her favorites.
Powerpuff Girls #37 (DC)
- What happens in this one? The criminals, the Gangrene Gang, are teaming up, and Mojo Jojo and the Powerpuff Girls are trying to win the Key and see who is rockingest.
- Why do you like it? They’re all trying and win the Key to the City, and that’s so funny. The Powerpuff Girls go in and beat Mojo Jojo and then it’s their turn, and they win the Key to the City.
Justice League Unlimited #6 (DC)
- What happens in this one? The Justice League people don’t know who they’re fighting, and they’re actually fighting these guys [points].
- Why do you like it? The red guys don’t win, but it looks like they’re going to.
Loony Tunes #?? (DC)
- What happens in this one? The cops are trying to get these bad guys.
- Why do you like it? It’s so funny. I like the looks. I like this cartoon a lot. It’s an old comic and it’s still funny,
It’s worth noting that nearly all the comics she has are DC ones. They’ve done a much better job of pitching comics to kids, helped by WB’s ownership of both DC and Cartoon Network and the Warner cartoon stable — but they do super-hero stuff (Teen Titans, JLU, Batman, Superman) which Marvel simply doesn’t. Pity, that.

M-I-L checking in. When I was a little girl – 150 years ago- we used to spend hours and hours reading comic books (no tv! imagine!) Some over and over again. It is nice to see the grandaughter still doing that.
ups! Being new at this I didn’t change the website. M-I-L
