I’ve been gasping along on my laptop for several months. Wasn’t sure why the performance was so lousy, but I suspected that my nearly-maxed hard drive storage was to blame, constraining the virtual memory, perhaps.
And then, today, I checked and discovered that I had only 1Gb of RAM on the damned thing. Yikes.
So, pricing an upgrade on that. I just need to pop the case to confirm if I have 2x512Mb or 1x1Gb modules.
Still need to do some hard drive cleaning — but, like the Cylons, “I have a plan.”
Huh, 1GB should be plenty of RAM unless you’re running Photoshop or Vista on the damned thing or something. I’d be more inclined to go with your original thought that it’s a near-maxed out HD. When there’s only a few spaces to stick things it takes longer for the drive to figure out what to do.
Sssshhhh … you’re ruining my internal moral justification for getting more RAM for the laptop …
*laughs*
I wasn’t going to say anything since that is what I thought you were doing in the first place. ;P
