Because …

Missing Earlier Stand-by
+ Flight that usually gets into Denver at 11:45
+ Flight being delayed 30 minutes
+ Having to park at the Pikes Peak remote lot
= 2 a.m. crawing into bed!

On the other hand, it was into bed with Margie, so that’s all worth it.

  1. As it turns out, we were at DIA about 90 minutes earlier than you were… and missed the turnoff for the new toll road towards Boulder, as our portable GPS unit didn’t show it.

So we got in to our B&B about the same time or a little earlier than you got home, but we had cookies waiting ready to eat, so there.

We did spot the buses marked “Pikes Peak” and “Mt..Evans?” so I actually get what you’re saying, how’s that for local knowledge?

  2. Ha!

Welcome to Colorado — I hope you’re having a pleasant stay. And that’s … pretty damned funny. (The coincidence, not missing the turn.)

And I think it’s “Mt. Elbert” as the other remote lot, though I noted that was closed.
