After the initial flurry of announcements on MT4, I’ve not been tracking news about it. Les pinged me to see if I knew something about it, and turned me on to this very cool demo video on something as prosaic as template editing.
Oh. My. Word.
I so want this product. It is my new hero.
- Tag coloring and highlighting.
- Line numbers (to match to errors).
- Automatic listing of included modules.
- Vastly increased modularization of the main templates.
And that’s just for template editing.
This latter piece is important, because that’s what I’ve done with my own templates over the years. Indeed, my templates are still largely of the MT2 era, but cut and pasted and mutated so much that troubleshooting them is nigh impossible. I’m actually looking forward to MT4 so I can just start the templates and styles from scratch again for my blog.
Not that I have any time to work on it right now, mind you … and I don’t necessarily plan on cutting over immediately upon release (never use something numbered n.0). But I do hope they get the product released soon. I’m in love …
