So we dropped Kitten off at Girl Scout camp yesterday morning. The “mini-camp” she’s on — three days, two nights — is held at Tomahawk Ranch up in Bailey,a gorgeous facility. She’s in one of the year-round lodges, which looked quite comfey, and the staff we met were all friendly and all that.

The entire lodge appeared to be inhabited by kids Katherine’s age (by some amazing coincidence), and she was already engaging with them and playing and having fun when we left (with some big hugs and kisses but no tears).
I do hope she has a good time. I’m not worried about her missing us too much or anything like that, but I do always worry about her finding friends and having fun with others and not finding herself alone, rejected, and miserable (no, of course I’m not projecting from my own childhood, why do you ask?). That Katherine is a lot more outgoing, willing and able to meet up with people than either of her parents makes that unlikely, but I also know how fragile she can be, so … crossing fingers.
Meanwhile, though, it sound like they should have just a wagon-load of fun. As I said, the facility is in a lovely setting, the permanent buildings (like where she is, and the dining hall) are all newish and nicely (if functionally) appointed, the staff was great, and it sounded like it should be a great camp trip.
Looking forward to picking her up Tuesday afternoon to hear all about it. 🙂
