Only a few short days to get your Blogathon pledges in. Come Saturday morning at 06-early, I get up and start the whole process. The humanity! The hilarity! And your pledge helps make it all possible …
(Sorry … started channeling NPR for a moment …)
Anyway, I’m now at $320, a nicely respectable number, but not as much as I’d love to see wing its way to the ERD.
(And, in a moment of unintentional hilarity, I just realized that the ERD link in the sidebar was still pointing to the EFF home page, who I blogged for last year. Heh. And I’ve spotted some previous posts where I simply copied the link over. Eek. So much for reusing code …)
In the interests of fairness and “put your money were your mouth is,” I’ve pledged over to K. Patrick Glover for the CBLDF and to Steve for the Montreal Children’s Hospital. And, of course, my offer still stands to sponsor you, if you are so inclined to Blogathon.
But if, as the folks in the Middle Ages chose to sponsor folks on quests to the Holy Land, rather than go themselves (a big step in the evolution of the Indulgence trade), if you decide to sponsor someone instead of blogging yourself, I hope you will sponsor me. I promise not to pillage Constantinople or set up a Crusader Kingdom in Jerusalem, though I may wear a funny outfit and wave a sword around during the wee hours of the morning.
Or maybe I’ll just review comics. Yeah, that seems a lot safer.
Thanks.
Woo-Hoo!
I just got a Blogathon plug from Neil Gaiman over on his journal. The site hits are going nuts.
Sweet!
Well, I had a fleeting glimpse of Neil today at the Con – his panels were mobbed and one was closed because the room filled up. But I sasw him moving between appearakces with a detail of security. Had a few other choice moments – including a new piece of film from the Dharma Initiative at the Lost panel and some entertaining moments in Scott Kurtz’s Spotlight panel. And if anyone is interested I’ll be glad to speak about the HD DVDs completely remastered from the original film Star Trek TOS.
But my trip is going to cost me a few things I’d love to see including a personal appearance by Clive Owen – for which I’d miss almost anything and a sneak peak at the new season of Heroes!
I am also sorry to be missing out of your Blogathon participation. I might get a chance to check in Sat evening, but I’ve always enjoyed checking periodically through the day and night. Best of luck!
I’ll miss your visits, Mary. Have a good trip!
