And now, for the award for “Mister Indecision of 2007” …

… the winner is Idaho Senator Larry Craig. 

First the Republican claims he really shouldn’t have pled guilty to a disorderly conduct plea over a bathroom sex sting.  So he changed his mind and sought legal help (once it all leaked to the press) to try to get the plea overturned.  Though he hasn’t actually filed any papers yet on the subject.

Now, after having announced that he would resign, he’s indicating that, well, no, that was probably a mistake to do, and since he’s fighting the charge, he won’t resign if he wins.  Though those are only hints, and there’s been no formal (counter)announcement yet.

All of which is, in turn, the worst possible news to the GOP leadership, who desperately want the whole “Conservative Republican Senator Solicited Gay Sex In An Airport Bathroom” thing to recede in the public memory as quickly as possible.
