We bought a Black & Decker hand mixer a few years back, and loved it. Powerful motor, good feel, etc., etc. And, of course, a trusted name in power tools, so that all made sense.
When it came time to replace our old creaky food processor with something new and powerful, when we spotted a Black & Decker PowerPro II, well, that made perfect sense.
Until, on one of its first outings, the plastic axle hole for the slicing/grating blade broke. No apparent way to fix it — and, annoyingly, apparently no spare/replacement parts are offered by B&D (or anyone else) for the thing. Believe me, I’ve looked. B&D has all sorts of suppliers for its power tool equipment line, but its home appliance line is, apparently, considered disposable.
Too bad. Consider this my recommendation against Black & Decker home appliances. “You break it, you’ve bought another one.” Or (since it will draw some search engine love, and I want to spread the word), Black & Decker Home Appliances Suck.
