On the one hand, political parties are (for most intents and purposes) private organizations, and have the right to handle their internal affairs as they choose.  So if the Texas Democratic Party requires candidates to sign a “loyalty oath” to support the eventual nominee, or else not get their name on the ballot, the quite arguably have that right.

On the other hand, it’s darned goofy, and kudos to Dennis Kucinich for refusing to do so.  Not that it does him that much harm, but it’s the principle of the thing.  I disagree it’s a “free speech” thing, but I applaud him for making a stand on it.
