Well, there’s a mass immigration into my wing of the building coming up this weekend (an amusing story in and of itself), and as part of that, the long-absent Greg Potemkin‘s being bumped from his cube. Everything’s cleaned off, even his name from the whiteboard. I tried putting it back up yesterday morning, but it’s now been replaced by the (I assume) name of the person taking over the space.
I’ll have to keep an eye open for someplace he can move to … sooner or later.
OK, that was the first I’ve seen of your little project, and I LOVE it!
And not just folks outside looking in despair of seeing vacant cubes, new employees see it as a ‘bad sign.’ Companies should do more of this sort of thing when they have sunk costs for space and can’t downsize their offices. Scatter the empty cubes among the other office space and dress them up a bit. Even putting together a ‘new hire’ package and having those supplies in the cube waiting for the new guy and using them as window dressing would be good stuff.
Good on ya for doing this project! However, you DEFINITELY need to get an official name plate for Greg . .
Greg was a great worker. He will be missed. /salute
Well, I confess, since I moved away from the corner where Greg’s cube was, I hadn’t been taking a lot of care of his space, or visiting him often enough. Still, I’ll miss him.
Arty, the problem with having cubes all dressed up and ready to go for new hires is … well, the Midnight Requisition Squad will doubtless find good homes for the staplers, chairs, etc. As it was, all I really dared do for Greg was chair, monitor, keyboard, coffee cup, and water his plant, plus scatter around some files and so forth that were already there.
