This was the era I grew up in, SciFi-wise on TV. And this image by Dusty Abell (full sized here) shows off a whole gob of folks from the era. This is just beauty.

Yeah, a lot of it was crap — but it was our crap, dagnabbit! And it was the only crap in town.
Featured above (and you have to look at the full-size version, or even a still-large-but-more-readable version to appreciate it) are (deeeep breath, and from memory) …
Wonder Woman, Man from Atlantis, Quark, Battlestar Galactica (including male Starbuck, Apollo, a Cylon “toaster”, Imperious Leader, and Lucifer), The Six Million Dollar Man, Logan’s Run, Doctor Who (complete with Leelah, the Robot, the Fourth Doctor, a Dalek, and K-9), Spider-Man, Planet of the Apes (the TV series), the “blond” (Cathy Lee Crosby) Wonder Woman, the “motorcycle helmet” Captain America, The Incredible Hulk (both bodies), Buck Rogers (including Buck standing on an aircraft I don’t recognize, Erin Gray, and Twiki holding the spacecraft from Land of the Giants), Space: 1999 (Maia and Cmndr Koenig), Greatest American Hero, and Mork (sans Mindy).
The only ones I’m not sure of are the blonde and the German Shepherd in the middle. Oh, and the silvery fellow between Steve Austin and Logan — looks like he belongs on BSG by the grouping, but I seem to think of him as a Doctor Who character.
Up in the sky we have (in no particular relative scale) a Buck Rogers fighter, Quark’s garbage scow, a blue-and-red jet I recognize but can’t place, a Colonial viper (on the ground), a Moon Base Eagle, a Cylon Base Star, a shuttle craft I think is BSG but am not sure, a UFO Interceptor, with a UFO above it, and on the right Galactica herself. As mentioned earlier, I can’t tell what Buck is standing on.
Extremely awesome. I would so buy a poster of this.
PS. I am informed the blue ship is from Battle of the Plants (G-Force). Not something I watched, nor was it ‘prime time’ as most of the above were.

Bionic dog?
What! no Star Blazers??
I really don’t think animateds belong in there. Otherwise, it should be a much larger list.
And, yes, there was a bionic dog. Wacky.
The silvery dude between Steve Austin and Logan is from Doctor Who. Specifically the episode The Robots of Death. The ship Buck Rogers is standing on is his space fighter, a duplicate of which is on the left and right side of the image under the G-Force ship and one of the original BSG ships.
I’m pretty sure the blond is Jamie Summers AKA the Bionic Woman and the tag on the dog says MAX so that’s probably the Bionic Dog whose name, of course, was Max-A-Million. Get it?
I am thinking that the Blond guy could be the Man from U.N.C.L.E.?
Definitely the blonde from The Man from UNCLE. Nice spot!
This IS a great image, and I too would buy a poster!
I think we can give the artist alittle slack for including a personal animated series reference. I think most of us have memories of our first taste of anime with G Force, Star Blazers, Battle of the Planets, etc. And it adds a little bit of mystery to the search . ..
I wonder if there are things we’ve missed, or if there’s a part 2.
I didn’t get into anime until “Robotech,” myself. Unless “Speed Racer” and “Marine Boy” count.
Good call on the Man from UNCLE (Ilya Kuriakin, I believe, by David McCallum).
Makes sense that’s Buck’s fighter — I was confused by the dupe on the other side.
Ah, yes. Max-a-Million. Heh.
Battle for the Planets is the only anime I have ever been able to tolerate. It was on every week right before our D&D game, and we found it quite amusing to watch while we set everything up.
Any of you watch NCIS? David McCallum plays “Ducky” on it, and one of the guest stars once asked what Ducky looked like when he was young. After a moment of thought, the reply was “Ilya Kuryakin.” Cracked me up.
