Is emailing a thank-you letter…

Is emailing a thank-you letter rude and lazy, or a sign that the typist’s hand is out of practice handwriting notes?

  1. A thank-you email is the best I do today. I think it is better than no thank-you at all which is what will happen if I have to hand write it. I can always find my computer, I cannot always find my thank You note cards, a pen and a stamp. Sad commentary on how disorganized I have become!

  2. Definitely better than nothing.

It does remain very nice, I’ll confess, to receive a handwritten note. But, boy, does my hand get tired doing more than a sentence and signature.

  3. I would favor an email. As you know, Dave, I prefer not to have paper wasted on things like cards. And as long as the email seems to have been written with me in mind, and is not simply a generic thank-you note, the sentiment would be as strong as with a hand-written letter.
