Links that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries …
- Swiss mountain cleaners – Ah, the Swiss. Especially in April.
- Joe The Plumber Admits He Knows “Little” About EFCA, Gets Jeered By Workers: Heather
- Bill Ford more resolved than ever to not take federal aid – Actually, it sounds like the cunning plan is working — making federal bailouts unattractive enough that they’re only taken if there’s really no other choice.
- Twitter added to federal emergency response network | InfoWorld | News | April 01, 2009 | By Dan Tynan – Not a bad idea …
- Verizon Turns to the Clouds – New Verizon logo? Actually, very nice, esp. compared to the old one. Comment section includes some valuable info, too.
- Dispatches from the Culture Wars: Creationists Declare Victory in Texas – Wow. That’s scary and sad. Not surprising, but … The big question now is whether other big states (e.g., California) can fight effectively against resulting craptastic textbooks that will come out of this.
- Firefly: The Complete Series on DVD for $20 + $3 s&h – Wow, excellent. Buy this, if you haven’t.
- Squeez Bacon actually not a bad idea – These are excellent. I’d actually buy some of them — except maybe the SqueezBacon, because I like the Real Thing.
- Obama Depressed, Distant Since ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Series Finale | The Onion – America’s Finest News Source – Ha! Every day is April Fools Day at the Onion.
- Number 2 Has Got Number 6 All Bottled Up, In New Prisoner Poster [Day Of The Triffids] – Not as excited about “Triffids” — but “Prisoner” looks keen.
- A New Way to Capitalize gOd – To the extent that “God” references a particular named deity, capitalizing it (properly) seems both appropriate and non-committal as to belief in the reality of said deity (cf. Zeus, Aslan, Cthulhu). I do sometimes capitalize the pronouns around God, just because I like the old-fashionedness of it — but I usually try to avoid pronouns related to God for different reasons.
- Beauty and the Beast 3D Sequence Wows at ShoWest – I so need to watch this movie again. It’s one of my faves, for a variety of reasons.
- The Fool Says In His Heart… – I think this is an excellent idea. Using Scripture to tell folks who don’t believe in Scripture that they are fools if they don’t believe in Scripture … is kinda goofy at best, and being gratuitously insulting at worst. And that latter ties right into the Matthew citation …
- Steve Harvey’s Anti-Atheist Bigotry: Alonzo Fyfe
- Educational micromanagement: George
- Beat Infosaturation: Wade in the Stream – The 2.0 Life – As with most pieces of wise advice, a lot easier to say than do.
- Conservatives Falsely Assert That Green Economy Legislation Would Impose $3,100 Tax On Families – What? A deliberate lie to distort the political process and win “points”? I’m shocked, shocked I tell you.
- Waiting for Conficker…in my opinion we were here. – “Do you think I’m some comic book villain? That I would tell you my master stroke if there was a remote chance you could stop me? I triggered it 35 minutes ago.”
