So for some odd reason, the Net access from the office is a bit screwy today. In general, it seems that anything other than IE that’s attempting to access the Web — Yahoo! Instant Messenger, Google Talk, Firefox, Linear — can’t, but Internet Explorer can.
Not sure if someone turned on an annoying security rule somewhere or what. I’m going to see if it clears up on its own before I go and harras the help desk.
Meanwhile, it’s very annoying to be accessing the world via IE (and IE6 at that).
Doesn’t that make your in-house Google tools experiment a little more difficult, too?
One would think.
Okay, looks like it’s just my machine. Very weird.
Let support know that you need a sledge hammer and a new machine .. .STAT!
Yeah, really trying to avoid asking for a new machine in the current climate. 😛
Or a group policy on my machine (which is not in the local group here in the office)?
Oh, ugh. Same problem at home. Again, with the “It’s my machine” kind of problem.
So … how would I go about diagnosing this?
