A planting of plants, a trouncing by trees

Spent most of the day (as in, “from about 10 a.m. to about 5 p.m.” doing work on the front yard garden. Accomplishments:

1. Clearing of the mulch from two beds along the sidewalk, removal of weed barrier, planting of several plants from Tagawa and the salvage yard (as well as bulbs for next year), and recovering over with inches of mulch.
2. Doing the same for the the rockbed up by the front door.
3. Planting of five planters on the deck.
4. Creation of a really nasty bruise on my right big toe by dropping a head-sized clot of dirt into a bucket that was sitting on said big toe.

Whew.

Came in, had a beer, took a shower, then sat down with Katherine (who was feeling under the weather all day) to watch The Two Towers. Went pretty darned well, aside from Katherine getting upset when Haldir was killed (thought it was Legolas).

Good movie.

Not a bad day, all told.
