If I answer the phone saying “Dave Hill,” and your first question is ask if you “can talk with Dave Hill,” it’s a sign you really aren’t listening — or else are robo-dialing me.
When I then politely decline to chat with you about my company so that you can send me your trade journal for free, repeating to me that it’s free doesn’t really do any good.
