Universal Health Care = Terrorism?

Wow — the crazy and the xenophobia just keep on rolling.

As far as I can see, the argument (via James Cavuto and Jerry Bowyer) is:

Universal Health Care -> Britain’s NHS -> budget cuts -> low-paid doctors -> doctor shortage -> recruiting of foreign doctors + anonymous post-office-like bureaucracy where nobody’s keeping an eye on each other -> TERRORISTS!!!!!

Versus of course, America’s Private Model -> small doctor practices -> doctors keeping eye on each other -> no stealthy foreign doctors -> NO TERRORISTS!

And, of course, if the Brits try to crack down on TERRORISTS in the NHS, the TERRORISTS will go to other socialized medical care systems … and if we try to have Socialized Medicine and Universal Health Care in the US, THE TERRORISTS WILL COME HERE!!!! 

EEEEEEK!!!

(Notice how we’ve suddenly shifted from “the government is trying to get us to rat out each other over dissent” back to “watch the folks around you for anyone suspicious so you can report them to the government and we will be safe” again?)

I could not make this up in a million years, people. This is so insanely disingenuous, it defies comprehension. Which, of course, is probably the point, since if you get people SCARED then they’ll demand you KEEP THEM SAFE and will put up with ANYTHING YOU WANT.
