Huzzah!
Had over Bruce, Scott (new friend via Bruce), Stan, Randy, Tim, Doyce, Kate, and De — with Kaylee and Rachel to play with Katherine.
Played probably the most eclectic series of games we’ve ever done at one of these shindigs:
- Happy Birthday, Robot!
- Jungle Speed
- Formula De
- Unspeakable Words
- Fluxx – Monty Python
- Trans-America
- Taboo
So we had word games, story games, reflex games, Euro=games, party games … a great panoply of gaming fun. And all of them games I would enjoy playing again, especially in good company.
My new gaming group played “Happy Birthday, Robot” Thursday before last and had a blast with it. Two of the players were young by the standards of our group (16 and 19), and I was impressed at how well HBR contained their drive towards non-sequitor/absurdity.
If you still have your story, the author’s livejournal is http://gobi.livejournal.com/ and he’s been collecting AP reports.
The guy who brought the game over will almost certainly be publishing it there, I suspect.
Margie and I plan on running a session with Katherine (our 9-year-old) some time.
Yeah, I’m definitely going to run it with my 8th grade advisory pretty early this year. It takes much of what I like about “Once Upon a Time,” adds more structure and gives you a way to narrow the scope. Just a great game for a group of kids.
Have you ever considered running The Princes(es’) Kingdom with Katherine?
Well, we’re long-time DitV fans. A friend of mine was running Katherine in it at one point; definitely something I’d like to see her play.
