Okay, so I’m not bought into the Olympics Kool-aid, where getting the Olympics is actually a net profit to any major city. And given the nature of Chicago politics, one might objectively wonder about what level of graft and corruption having the Olympics there would have caused.
That said, this compilation is just downright appalling.
The bottom line: the Right (and the Right Punditry, in particular), is so rabidly, blindly, insanely anti-Obama, that they are willing to cat-call and mock the third largest city in the United States, and root for some other country to get the Olympics.
Not because the Olympics are a dubious economic proposition.
Not because Chicago is or is not, on some objective sense, the best potential venue.
But because they hate Obama and would rather see the entire nation go down in flames than support anything that someone somewhere might consider a win for his Administration.
Their opposition is built solely on hate and political game-playing. There is no concern over the public interest, our democracy, our national identity. It is all, and utterly, about politics and hatred.
This is not principled concern. This is not the “loyal opposition.” These are fanatics who will stop at nothing to gain their ends, no matter who is hurt, no matter what is lost.
Freaking disgusting.
If you foundthat abhorent, check this out.
You know, it seems like only last year that folks that spoke like this about a GOP President were regularly called Traitors…
What’s remarkable is that it’s all a matter of the Politics of Personality. Look at the criticism and mocking — it’s all about Obama. “Ha, ha, Obama sux!” “Ha ha, the word hates Obama!” Etc.
For all that the Right claims that the Left is too focused on Obama as a personality, they are even more obsessed. It’s not about public policy — it’s about tearing down the man, personally.
The politics of hate.
