Kitty-kitty

Mary recommended this video (at Mark Evanier’s site) to us:

Yikes.

In personal kitty news, Indy continues to improve, moving around the house much better, making full use of the litter box, etc. He very much wants to go outside, and we’ll likely humor him soon. We went to the vet, and will be starting him on, essentially, an anti-arthritic medication which should help his spondylosis (which we think would be a great name for a rock band, or perhaps a flower) at his tail.

Unfortunately, said medication is an injectable. (Shudders.)

Mimi, meantime, continues to be a Cat of Very Little Brain, and has alternative nicknames of “Squirrel” and “Youaresuchagoober.”

  1. My sympathies. My poor girl cat, when she was 9, had an awful infection in one of her hind legs. I had to give her daily injections in the infection site, and she didn’t understand. It was an awful feeling, hurting a sweet kitty. She’s 14 now, and a bit frail, but she lived.

Good luck to Indy, hope for a speedy recovery.

  2. Well, let me start by saying that I positively loathe needles, with a visceral passion that burns like a thousand angry suns, or something like that. I always consider donating blood as much a victory of personal courage as doing good for the greater community.

Needless to say, I am not thrilled about giving kitty shots.

That said, these are supposely very sharp and small needles, and the vet (who gave us a demo) gave him a shot in some loose skin that he didn’t even twitch at, so apparently it will be no more tortuous, perhaps less, than getting a pill down his throat.

And I’ll have Margie’s help (or her mine), and it’s a bi-weekly changing to weekly changing to monthly thing, so …

    Still, *sigh*
