Had a very nice Thanksgiving yesterday. Stan, Dave N., Dave & Jen & Anna, and Lee & De and Rachel all came over around 3, we sat down for dinner around … 6:30ish, I think, and a good time was (it appeared) had by all.
We ran into a few problems with the turkey fryer blowing the breakers on two of the circuits we had it on. We eventually unplugged the garage fridges and that solved that problem.
So, fried turkey (yum), Margie Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Gravy … green beans, alas, were forgotten until the last moment. Some choice wines from the cellar. Pecan pie (by me) and apple bread pudding (by De) for desert.
Good times.
Today:
- Cleaning people come.
- Need to get back into the NaNoWriMo thing for today. Both Kay and I are in striking distance!
- Margie’s upgrading her machine to Win7.
- Need to cook one more turkey.
- Relaaaaaaaxxxxx …
That last point is important. The advantage of Thanksgiving being on a Thursday is (if your job is that way) you get a four-day weekend. The disadvantage of it is that you spend the very first day of that four-day weekend running around like a lunatic (for “you” read “I”).
So … realaaaaaxxxxx … except for making the mistake of checking my email and seeing unpleasant things going on in Europe. Oh, and doing NaNo. And … um … whatever else.
Thanks for the invitation! It was fun, the food was great, and my enjoyment was real not just apparent.
Yeppers, it was a great dinner, everyone did a great job.
How goes the Win7 upgrade on MK’s computer?
Aside from some cryptic instructions from ASUS, it appears to have gone just fine. And now the driver problems she was having in Vista have vanished. Huzzah!
Huzzah indded~ =D
Or not. We’re still fixing. Rats.
Poo. 🙁
Huh, that’s odd, mine went perfect.
It’s not a Win7 problem – it’s an odd PC/video/game problem.
Hrm…
The only thing I had to do was download the new Nvidea Win7 Driver as recommended by the Upgrade Installer.
The problem predates Win7. It is actually a lot better now – can at least play CoX on my machine, but it is still a bit glitchy. I installed the new driver, ships sets and such with the Win7 install. Today, I updated the AI and Bios and will probably unistall the Nivdea drivers and start fresh with the latest and greatest. If that doesn’t work some other folks have had success with a slightly older version of the drivers.
Wish me Luck!
