When last we left Margie, she was getting around on crutches and a scooter, wearing a Robocop brace on her left foot, and under strict instructions to PUT NO WEIGHT ON HER RIGHT FOOT.

As of today’s orthopedics appointment, she can WALK ON BOTH FEET!
Carefully.
And (as she compares it to walking around on a severe sprain) uncomfortably.
But walking.
She’s presently using one crutch as sort of a balance (though I’ve offered my Wedding Cane). She has to wear the Robocop brace when walking around for the next 2.5 wks, then after than can go to a lighter brace that she can actually wear a shoe over.
But she’s walking.
No current plans on returning to work. Even though she can do her work from the office, she’s still getting pretty tired , so we’re planning that week by week.
Me? I’m just glad that I can (fairly soon) close up the sofa bed …
Grats, Margie! And keep walking!

Woot. Glad to hear it. I’m looking forward to seeing her on two feet!
What a relief! Fast healing soon.
This article in The Economist made me think of that x-ray:

That’s a very cool article.
And, yes, here’s hoping to fast healing. And it was a great relief to have the doctor sort of off-handedly say, “Okay, start putting your weight on it. As much as you can, because it promotes bone strength.” Yay!
I’m also having stable crack while slept in home. My after surgery x-ray looks same as you posted. I’venot put weight on my foot by last 52 days, my doctor told me to walk like regular by next 10 days. CAn you you give me information about Margie, how is she now, is now she walking normally? Feels very warm to share this.
I am doing well. It is over a year since I broke my ankle and I can do everything except wear high heals.
When I started walking I used a large brace boot for a few weeks and then a smaller soft brace. I put my foot up whenever I could. It really helped with the swelling. I also went to physical therapy and learned some stretching and strengthening exercises.
Good Luck!
