Unblogged Bits for Tue, 16 Mar 2010, 9:11AM

Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….

  1. Indiana High School Puts Graduation Prayer Up for a Vote; Valedictorian Sues – The whole point of a constitution is that we are not a pure democracy where whatever the majority wants it can impose. We have laws and restrictions and freedoms for all that are protected by the Constitution. Putting it up for a vote is no more legitimate than having the student body decide whether to have an orgy after the graduation (something I suspect the pastor quoted would have a problem with).
  2. Make it so tiny – Where no man’s eyeball has gone before. Very cool.
  3. GLBT community pressing for census question to declare sexual orientation – The Denver Post – All fine and well. But there are any number of other questions or interests or demographics that could be included, too, that aren’t.
  4. Lesbian couple speak against Boulder Catholic school that rejected their kids – The Denver Post – They are far more generous and faithful than I woul dbe.
  5. Fighting Vampires in Office Max – One must always be prepared for vampire attacks. And zombie invasions, too.
  6. Signs: The most useful thing you pay no attention to. – By Julia Turner – Slate Magazine – Not surprisingly, even in this era of GPS units, road signage remains critically — even fatally — important.
  7. Adorable? – Fun with Quantum Physics!
  8. Robert Kuttner: The End of an Illusion – While I applaud a desire to build consensus — and am not sure that, in his position, I wouldn’t have done the same — sooner or later you realize that turning the other cheek just provides an additional target.
