- What is Lindsey Graham whining about? – Money grafs: “This is just insane. Democrats tried to work with Republicans on health care. Dems incorporated Republican ideas and amendments into the legislation, and even patterned the legislation after a moderate GOP proposal from the last reform fight. Substantively, Republicans described the public option and a Medicare buy-in as beyond the pale, and Dems scrapped both ideas. Procedurally, Republicans blasted the self-executing rule as inexcusable, and Dems scrapped that, too. All the while, the majority practically begged Republicans to play a constructive role, negotiate in good faith, and make some concessions to meet Dems in the middle. They refused. And now Graham (and McCain, and others) feel justified in throwing a tantrum, and intend to kill every other policy initiative, because they think Democrats were somehow big meanies during the health care debate?”

CCH Pounder did a very good job voicing Waller on the JLU cartoons. I think she’d make a decent live-action Waller as well:

I agree.
I don’t begrudge the desire to increase the box office draw of the film, and I have nothing per se against Angela Bassett — but here’s a character that has been quite successful in the comics *not* being a fashion model / startlet type, and casting someone glamorous in the role just feels a scosh too … Hollywood. (And “Dr.” Amanda Waller?)
Waller quickly became my second favorite supporting character, right behind Commissioner Gordon.
One of my all-time favorite covers is Suicide Squad #10: http://www.milehighcomics.com/cgi-bin/backissue.cgi?action=fullsize&issue=83407045856%2010
Another nice Waller cover is this movie tribute for Justice League America #27:

I actually like Waller a lot as a character — largely because not just the “corrupt evil government spymaster” cartoon. She is utterly ruthless and amoral beyond serving the cause, but she does the latter to the hilt, even at the cost of her own life. She’ll back up her team against anyone, but will also sacrifice any of them without hesitation if necessary. She’s aligned juuuuuust enough on the side of the Good Guys to make her at least admirable, even if also despicable.
