Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Both Mississippi And Georgia Have Confederate History Proclamations Without Any Mention of Slavery – To assert that the Civil War was not primarily about slavery — and the right of the federal government to restrict states from holding slaves (so, yes, there was a states rights dimension to it) would be laughable were not not so vile. That we still have states officially proclaiming heritage months in memory and admiration of a regime found explicitly to protect the (slave-holding) property rights of the states founded it is disgusting.

- In The Cycle Of Violence, The Right Only Cares About The Christian Victims – Money grafs: “It would make sense of Donohue and others were hosting a rally calling for an end to the cycle of religious violence that has killed thousands of people over the last decade. But that is not what they are doing; they are merely protesting the violence against Christians. Apparently, the related slaughter of Muslims by Christians is perfectly okay.”
- Don Blankenship’s Record Of Profits Over Safety: ‘Coal Pays The Bills’ – There is so much WRONG here, it’s hard to know where to begin. From callous disregard of human lives in favor of profit, to cronyism and corruption of government regulation in favor of political contributions, this tale is dirtier than one of Blankenship’s coal mines.
- Conservatives Falsely Claim New Obama Nuke Policy Prevents Nuclear Retaliation Against Chem/Bio Attack – Not only is the accusation false, but, as Gibbs pointed out the other day, it’s not like we don’t have pretty damned devastating conventional weaponry to strike back with, even if we declined to use nukes in a particular circumstance.

- Lost Time Does Not Equal Lost Lives – So you claim that you’re virtuous because, despite a slew of safety violations and fines, fewer hours of work have been “lost” due to workplace injuries than “most companies”? Wow — that’s positively Christ-like.

- Find the latest WordPress hack – For my MySQL I had to tweak the punctuation (and get rid of some curly quotes): [[SELECT * FROM wp_options where option_name like “rss%” ORDER BY ‘wp_options’, ‘option_name’ ASC]]. Regardless, all’s clear so far.
