Unblogged Bits for Thu, 8 Apr 2010, 2:00PM

Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….

  1. Beck admits he doesn’t give ‘a flying crap about the political process. … We’re an entertainment company.’ – And the scary thing is, regardless of what he’s saying here, there’s tons of folks out there who treat his words as some sort of political gospel, and believe he is utterly sincere and right. And that’s what we all have to live with, no matter what Beck personally believes.
  2. Cut spending (but don’t really) – Everybody wants to cut spending — except on all the stuff that they agree spending shouldn’t be cut on. Money graf: “It’s something voters should try to keep in mind during the midterms. For every candidate who boasts about his/her desire to cut spending, there should be a straightforward follow-up: where? If they can’t answer the question, they probably don’t mean what they’re saying.” This is really where the Dems need to push the discussion — what, specifically, would you cut to meet your targets, and does everyone else agree with that?
  3. The shoe-bomber who wasn’t – Yeah, reading Erick Erickson’s snide article hinting in multiple directions who in the Obama Administration is responsible for the attack, how Obama’s policies have failed, and how this proves everything he’s been saying all along, is a huge laugh. Especially since he left it up underneath the (unapologetic) update about the facts of the incident.
  4. World War II on Facebook [Pic] – Heh. You could actually do some interesting history lessons in this framework.
  5. 15 Incredible Photo-Realistic CG Images – There’s just a scosh of Uncanny Valley in some of these, but overall, they’re scary-good.
  6. Watchdog Group Drops Hannity Charity Rating : Dispatches from the Culture Wars – Will Hannity take the opportunity to try and reform the charity’s operations? Will he draw attention to the problem by denouncing this all as a liberal plot? Or will it just be kept silent and hidden from attention? Given the response from the Freedom Alliance thus far (dropping the Charity Navigator logo from their site), I suspect the last.
  7. Tips on Critiquing Your Own Work – Artwork, in this case. Some good ideas here.
  8. The 9/14 Presidency – Reason Magazine – Good, clear article on the differences — and similarities — between the Obama and Bush administrations on their “wartime powers” exercised for national security.
