Unblogged Bits (Thu. 8-Jul-10 2001)

Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….

  1. Warren Ellis » When You Spill Oil In Water Perhaps The Things In The Water Evolve – Game over, man! Game over!
  2. Telescopic eye implant approved by the FDA – Paging Steve Austin …
  3. Bluetooth 4.0 on the way, lets devices run for years without recharging – I want a Bluetooth setup that (a) doesn’t need regular recharging on the headset, (b) doesn’t suck the battery life out of the device it’s hooked to, and (c) doesn’t lose its handshake all the time. Give me that, and I’ll be one of those Locutus clones with the constant earbud.
  4. Markos gets blacklisted from MSNBC because “Morning Joe” has a hissy fit – “Conservative pundits can say anything at all and are never held accountable for their actions. That’s a sad fact that we see over and over again.” That’s because Liberals (with some radical exceptions) are silly enough to believe in a marketplace of ideas and to deal with diversity of opinion. If you disagree with someone, the best thing to do is demonstrate, rhetorically, why they’re wrong and you’re right. When you are a One True Way sort of individual, though, like most command-and-control talking heads on the Right, disagreement isn’t disagreement, it’s both a sin and a personal attack, and so deserves whatever one might do to punish it.
  5. WaPo’s Ruth Marcus: It Would Be ‘Insane’ To Restore Tax Rates For The Rich To Previous Levels – What’s amazing is that Marcus pretty much agrees with every point Trumka makes — and then dismisses them to wail that the rich pay too much in taxes and it’s time for everyone else to sacrifice. Jeez.
