Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Harry Shearer: NPR — the Initials Stand for Nothing – That’s … unfortunate.
- SPEECH Act now a law: big win for libel reform! – “Sometimes, our government gets it right.”
- GOP Funding Octopus – Many tentacles, same groups: karoli
- Kirk Scare Farmers Into Believing They’ll Lose Their Farm Because Of A Tax Almost No Farmers Pay – Because why let the facts get in the way of a tired campaign cliche?
- themes througout science-fiction and fantasy [infographic] – An interesting (but highly selective) listing which doesn’t seem to prove much. One obvious gap — Xena is listed, but Hercules is not?
- Preacher to Burn Korans on 9/11, No Matter Who Tells Him Not To (VIDEO) – “We want to send a very clear message to Muslims that if they are in America, they are free here to worship, but they must honor and respect our constitution.” And you will do that by … burning Korans? I don’t think that’s your real reason here, dude.
- Ctrl-V, Ctrl-X, Ctrl -Z – Clever, though I honestly got hooked on the CTRL-INSERT/SHIFT-DELETE/SHIFT-INSERT combo early on, and have never weaned off of it.

What possible benefit could there be for National Public Radio from changing their name to NPR? It makes no sense to me. But then, that’s true of so many things that happen in popular culture, perhaps I should just resign myself to being confused.
I think that it gets out of the “oh, it’s public radio, so they’re supported by government funding” model. That’s all I can think.
Bah, NPR has been nothing but a Fox News lite echo chamber for the past 16 years. To NPR, “reporting” involves a combanation of He said/She said reports, softball interviews to any rightwinger and a fairly stanadard 4 to 1 Right Wing to Center Balance with think tanks and interviewees.
It is a rare day indeed whenever an actual liberal is allowed on the air.
