Maybe we should take some notes for our next get-together …
Actually, aside from the half-century old outward trappings, some of the fundamentals here — planning, helping everyone have a good time — are still true.

Just a couple of thoughts-
Uhm, white young people standing around the piano singing ‘Jimmy Crack Corn’? Really, this is the song they chose? I mean, I understand it was made my Mississippi State College, but really?!
I know that Home Ec was once thought of with more respect, but really, did this look like college level stuff, even given that time frame?
I loved the fact that no one asked to help, and the food magically appeared when mom poked her head out of the kitchen (I think I inherited a couple of aprons just like she was wearing from my mother), and no one offered to clean up, either. (Not that I was expecting the men to offer, at that time.)
I kinda remember being told to leave the party at the same time as other people. Guess they have to travel in packs.
There are parlor games, and then there are parlor games. Dave, I’m down with the guess who you are game, and I like the occasional games of charades, but ‘hat making’?, not now, not ever (except that in this time frame, guests are not allowed to op out of playing).
I think I’ll take today, if you please.
I loved it that it was women making hats.
Yeah, there are so many particulars wrong here. (Coats & ties come to mind.) On the other hand, the idea of everyone pitching in to make the party a success for all was kind of nice.
