Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- The Remnants Of Katrina: An Abandoned Theme Park : The Two-Way : NPR – Yeah, that’s creepy.
- You’ll Believe a Man Can Take a Sabbatical: J. Michael Straczynski Leaves Monthly Comics – ComicsAlliance | Comics culture, news, humor, commentary, and reviews – I haven’t been wowed by either the Superman or Wonder Woman storylines (nor, for that matter, by the Earth One GN) — not turned off, just not wowed. I have a sense that, between comics and movie scripting (and health issues), JMS has stretched himself too thin — if so, pulling back a bit and focusing on more limited titles is a good idea. Still irked that we haven’t seen the oft-promised second half of “The Twelve,” though.
- ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Producer Ron Moore Sells New Series to NBC; Sets Up ‘Wild Wild West’ Reboot at CBS – A lot of it really depends on the approach he takes to WWW. If he does the shift to ingenious seriousness that he did with BSG, it could be pretty remarkable.
- HDTVs Are Popular, But HD Programming Is Not – Interesting. We have HD, but we watch most shows in SD — largely because we watch most shows via the DVR and I only program for the (much larger) HD shows when it’s something that will benefit by it.

4. I watch virtually everything in HD when it is an option. Of course, with no family obligations, I can catch up on my DVR quickly; most shows remain on there less than 24 hours.
I choose HD because the SD channels were formatting the show in 4:3, a waste of my wide-screen TV’s real estate. However, I just realized that I have been watching the new Avengers cartoon in SD. I hadn’t noticed because it is in wide-screen format. I jumped back and forth between the two versions and saw no real difference. If more shows are in WS on SD channels, the HD may not make much of a difference, particularly for animated shows.
