Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Archaeologists Find 1,082 Ancient Tombs in Google Earth [Science] – Amazing world, ennit?
- “Dating” site imports 250,000 Facebook profiles, without permission – I’m less worried about how Facebook feels about it (unsurprisingly, and hypocritically, they’re ticked off), but how individuals might feel about their “Wait, is that what public really means?” data now being on some other person’s site.
- Sarah Palin And Daughter Bristol Are Trademarking Their Names – I think we now need to be including the symbol next to her name in all references — Sarah Palin® — just to highlight how ridiculous the woman is.
- President Rick Santorum Would Eliminate The “Rogue” 9th Circuit Court Of Appeals – Translation: “It’s all about me and what I want, and anyone who disagrees is a poopy-head who should be gotten rid of.” Stay classy, Rick!
- Lighting the Future: Walmart Converting Hundreds of Stores’ Lot Lighting to LEDs : TreeHugger – The before and after seem to be with very different light levels. And though one of the advantages touted is LED light focus (reducing night time glare), the “after” picture seems to have a lot more light spill than the “before.” Still, yes, the energy savings and utility of LED lighting is all good, and companies piloting use of it on an industrial basis will drive the costs down for the rest of us.
- Just How Many Days Does Bill Murray REALLY Spend Stuck Reliving GROUNDHOG DAY? | Obsessed With Film – And now I need to watch this movie again.
- GA State Rep.: There’s No Such Thing as a Rape Victim | Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee – Even if one is charitable and is willing to assume that Rep. Bobby Franklin is simply seeking to ensure that inflammatory language does not tar innocent arrestees, why limit the verbiage change to just rape, stalking and family violence? Burglaries, assaults, and murders should now just “accusers,” not “victims,” right? (One also wonders how Rep. Franklin would feel if it was his own daughter who was an “accuser” in a court case.)
- Paul appointed to education committee after calling for Dept. of Ed. to be abolished – The GOP would be hysterically funny, if we didn’t have to live with the results of their actions.
- CARTOON/COLUMN: Our first Hawaiian president – Obligatory armchair psychologist warning … but there are some aspects to this that make a measure of sense.

3. “So “Sarah Palin” is trademarked but “Sarah Brain-dead Palin” is not. OK, then. I can live with that.
7. Don’t be so hard on Franklin. He’s an accuser of circumstances.
